srisanatan.org exists to be a complete, accurate and freely available reference on Sanātana Dharma — deep enough for a scholar, clear enough for someone encountering it for the first time, and honest enough to record the tradition's own disagreements.

Editorial principles

1. Attribute everything. Verses carry their source; claims about a school carry the school's own position.
2. Where the tradition disagrees, show both sides. Six darśanas contradict one another; six Vedānta schools read the same sūtras differently. Presenting one as 'the' Hindu view would be false.
3. Where a text is indefensible, quote it and weigh it — using the tradition's own hierarchy of śruti over smṛti and its own rule that smṛti is revisable.
4. Never invent. Where the received grouping or attribution is uncertain, say so in the text rather than smoothing it over.
5. Sanskrit is given in Devanagari and in IAST transliteration, with translation. Scripture is never machine-translated.
6. The knowledge is free and always will be. No page of teaching on this site is behind a login.

Languages

The site is being made available in twenty languages. Translations are hand-written and reviewed; machine output is treated as a draft only and is never published raw. Sacred vocabulary and Devanagari ślokas pass through unchanged in every language.

Corrections

If you find an error — a misattributed verse, a wrong date, a school's position misstated — it will be corrected and the correction recorded. Accuracy matters more here than consistency with what was published yesterday.
